Membership
Applicants will be assessed on their education, training, knowledge, skill & experience (K.S.E.). Due consideration will be given to those who are qualified only by practical experience. There are many people who, through no fault of their own, have not had the opportunity to gain academic qualifications during their careers. These people may also apply for membership based on their own individual merits, practical experience and position.
Membership of VETC will confer the following benefits:
- Use of the appropriate designatory letters.
- Professional status and recognition.
- A special Certificate or Diploma stating your Skills.
- Option to study professional diploma courses.
- Progression onto a degree programme.
- Free advert in the journal when seeking a new position or recruiting for your own company.
- Recommendation of new members gains reduced fees.

Once a member:
- The VETC Achievement Award (VETC-AA) can be applied for, depending upon the grade of membership.
Grades
Student Member - (Cert.IVQ)
The applicant should have completed the first year of a course of studies, be qualified to IVQ Level 1, Foundation GNVQ or be receiving training on an apprenticeship. Foundation skills in occupations.
Affiliate Member - (Cert.IVQ)
Holders of IVQ Level 2, GNVQ, ONC/OND, City & Guilds, BTEC or SCOTVEC/SQA awards or those receiving training on an apprenticeship. Operative or semi-skilled occupations.
Associate Member - (Dip.IVQ)
Holders of IVQ Level 3, Advanced GNVQ, ONC/OND, City & Guilds, BTEC or SCOTVEC/SQA awards. Also those with relevant qualifications and/or experience. Technician, skilled trades, crafts and professions, and supervisory occupations.
Full Member - (Dip.IVQ)
Holders of IVQ Level 4, HNC/HND, City & Guilds, Certificates/Diplomas of higher education, BTEC or SCOTVEC/SQA awards. First, Foundation, Associate¡¯s & Bachelor¡¯s Degrees. Also those with relevant qualifications and/or experience. Skilled trades, crafts and professions; technical and junior management occupations.
Fellow - F.A.M.S. (Dip.IVQ)
IVQ Level 5-6 & Master¡¯s Degree. Chartered, professional and senior management occupations. Also those with relevant professional qualifications and/or appropriate experience.
Companion - C.A.M.S. (Dip.IVQ)
Holders of a Doctorate Degree and those in a senior position.
Note:
- The K.S.E. of self-employed people will gain a level and grade.
- We will also take membership of other professional bodies into account.
- The equivalent worldwide qualifications will apply in each grade.
- Application can be made to be upgraded to the next level of membership as further K.S.E. (Knowledge, Skills & Experience) is gained.
- A further Skills Certificate/Diploma can be gained at any time upon submission of proof relating to the acquirement of the new skill and payment of a one off fee.
